Now we’re talking. After lots of secret negotiation, AT&T was finally able to announce yesterday that it has reached a deal to bring CBS and CW programming to its live TV service. Neither CBS nor AT&T have committed to a date when the new content will be live, but it’s going to be soon, and it’s going to be big.
CBS and CW programming will be available in 25 markets to start, and these are some big markets. The ones that have been mentioned are:
- New York
- Los Angeles
- Dallas – Ft. Worth
- San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose
- Minneapolis-St. Paul
- Miami-Ft. Lauderdale
- Sacramento-Stockton-Modesto, Calif.
In addition to CBS and CW programming, there will also be Pop (formerly the TV Guide Channel), CBS Sports Network, and for an additional fee you’ll be able to get Showtime. CBS touts its $8 add-on price for Showtime as the lowest of any streaming provider, and remember this is also expected to give you access to the Showtime app which gives you all the on-demand stuff. That’s probably what you wanted anyway.
DIRECTV NOW is not expected to raise prices for these or any other channel adds they’ve recently made, which if you think about it is pretty good. At $35 for the lowest tier you get a real value in streaming entertainment. There’s no equipment to buy as long as you have an existing AppleTV or Roku, and that’s a one-time purchase. Cancel any time and pick it back up anytime. No contracts, no hassle.
Best of all, you can now get DIRECTV NOW through Solid Signal so you don’t even need to look anywhere else. Go to solidsignal.com/directvnow and you’ll be on your way, with a free week of DIRECTV NOW and all the channels you want today… plus CBS and more coming soon!
