Now that’s what I call synergy. AT&T’s new unlimited plans are really taking the world by storm, and they’re already getting better. Most of us thought unlimited plans were gone forever but AT&T brought them back in the best possible way. You probably know that if you have and AT&T unlimited plan you get a $25 per month credit on DIRECTV now or DIRECTV satellite service, and now AT&T has sweetened the pot even more.
According to their press release, the company is now offering free HBO content if you have the unlimited plus plan. Best of all they are doing it in a really smart way. Check this out:
If you currently subscribe to HBO through an AT&T video service – DIRECTV, DIRECTV NOW or U-verse TV – HBO will now be included for no additional charge.
If you subscribe to an AT&T video service but not HBO, you’ll automatically receive access to the premium HBO channels as part of your wireless plan.
If you don’t subscribe to an AT&T video service, you can access your HBO content through the DIRECTV NOW and HBO Go apps.
In other words it doesn’t matter how you choose to enjoy TV, you can enjoy free HBO with this offer with nothing more to buy. What could be better?
AT&T was already offering DIRECTV NOW customers a year of free HBO and now things get even more interesting, I’d say. It’s worth noting that AT&T is actively trying to acquire Time Warner, parent of HBO, so this sort of offer could become more common after that deal closes. I say bring it on, this is the kind of behavior I want to see from my wireless carrier!
