According to one of the shortest pressreleases ever…
AT&T will webcast a presentation by Bill Smith, president, Technology Operations, AT&T Services, Inc., at the Wells Fargo 2016 Convergence & Connectivity Symposium in New York on Tuesday, June 21 at 9:00 a.m. ET. The webcast will be available live and for replay at AT&T Investor Relations.
There’s actually a fair chance that this webcast could hold some information about AT&T’s next-generation plans. It’s been public knowledge (not to mention common sense) for some time that AT&T plans on unifying its existing DIRECTV and U-Verse infrastructures with a new architecture, which will be based on DIRECTV SWM but will also have the ability to work with existing fiber backbones. This is a tantalizing idea especially for people who wish to combine AT&T internet with DIRECTV video. There have been pages and pages of speculation, and though it’s likely that you won’t get any technical facts, it could be an opportunity to really understand what they’re planning to do.
The call is tomorrow… don’t miss it!
