Article #5,000

This is the 5,000th article published at The Solid Signal Blog. Well, it is and it isn’t. It’s probably about the 9,000th except for the ones that don’t count. Before I get into the victory lap, let me explain.

A lot of people told me I was crazy to try to make a company blog that competed with big dogs like Engadget and Gizmodo. Those blogs have dozens of staffers and huge budgets. And yet here we are. Every day we publish as much content as those big guys and we try treally hard to make it fun and interesting. We’ve been doing it for 12 years and let’s hope we can do it for 12 more.

A little history for newer readers

The Solid Signal Blog started out back in 2007. You can read a bit of its long history here, but the condensed version of it is that we have tried several different hosting platforms. Each time, we lose some older articles. We do it on purpose. Before 2012, there were only about 200 blog articles total and about half of them were very quick social media hits. They may be fun to laugh at but they weren’t much help to current customers.

Between 2012 and 2018 our team published over 7,500 articles. Server problems back in 2017 meant that we had to make some tough decisions about those articles. Creating the site as you see it now was a very manual process and only about 3,500 articles made the cut.

And now we’re back to 5K

In the last 14 months or so, we’ve brought you 1,500 more tutorials, opinions, product reviews and lots and lots of fun. Along the way the blog has grown to its largest readership ever!

So, I thought rather than celebrating myself for article #5,000, I’d celebrate you all. Our readers are what make this blog great. You’re the reason we do this, and so genuinely, genuinely, Thank You.
