FUN FRIDAY: 1935 Tournament of Roses Parade

Literally everything in the world is on YouTube. With just a little searching, I found this (relatively poor) transfer of the 1935 Tournament of Roses Parade, 81 years ago today. For me the parade was at its best in the 1980s before corporate interests took over. Today, most floats are built by just a handful of professionals. Sure they’re decorated by volunteers but the serious engineering all comes from a core group. What fun is that?

If you’re looking for a few more ancient looks at the parade while you’re watching its 2016 iteration…

Here’s the parade as it looked in 1940.
