Listing Electronics Products Online
It’s not hard to figure out what our product listers do. Their job duties are in their title, right? Not so fast. A lot goes into the way Solid Signal presents these products to you, yet the hard work that these folks do largely goes unnoticed… until now. I spent the day with a member of our products team to get a better idea of what they do here every day. I also got a chance to list a handful of the latest electronic products that we carry. To do that, I had to consult our in-house expert.
Meet Nicole. She’s a member of our products department for the past three years. If her name sounds familiar, it’s probably because you’ve read about her right here in the Solid Signal blog. She and I had an argument about the Hallmark Movies Now streaming service. While I still think she’s wrong about that, I can put it aside to sing her praises as a product lister. She took the time to teach me how to do what she does, and even let me list some products on the Solid Signal website.
So, What Did I Learn?
That product listing is harder than it sounds. There are a lot of details that go into each item that we carry. Nicole has to list the product’s manufacturer as well as the item’s height, length, and weight. She also has to list the product’s cost as well as a variety of important details about each product. It’s very painstaking work but it’s also very important. Detailed product descriptions help you know if the product you’re considering is truly the one you want.
To really understand what our product listers do, I had to sit down and do it myself. Nicole was kind enough to coach me through the process of listing products on our website. To her credit, she patiently coached me through the process of pulling relevant data from the manufacturer’s site and recreating it, line by line, on ours. Even though I might have listed about 50 products, I wouldn’t call myself an expert. Far from it, actually. What I can tell you is that I have a greater appreciation for what Nicole does every day.

For months, I heard Nicole describe the process she goes through to make these and other items available to you. Like I mentioned earlier, I wouldn’t have truly appreciated it until I actually sat down and did what she does every day.
