Zack Snyder’s Justice League Debuting on HBO Max

Will HBO Max knock it out of the park with Zack Snyder’s Justice League? My “Magic 8-Ball” says “without a doubt!”

This powerhouse DC superhero extravaganza debuts on March 18. In it, supervillains Steppenwolf, DeSaad, and Darkseid invade earth bent on its destruction. (At least it seems that way.) It’s up to Batman to assemble a team of superheroes to fight the forces of evil. This proves difficult since each of the would-be heroes must overcome incidents in their respective pasts so they can come together and fight as one. Will they be victorious? You can find out if you have (or get) HBO Max.

I have my reasons for expecting HUGE things from this movie. Before I say anything more, check out the trailer for Zack Snyder’s Justice League:

This is the Director’s Cut

Many people are referring to this film as “The Snyder Cut.” Its official title is Zack Snyder’s Justice League. There’s good reason for that. In 2017, this film was released in theaters. The script was changed before and during production, then Snyder had to step down due to the death of his daughter. Joss Whedon took over and incorporated many changes, including a happier tone, more humor, and a shorter running time. The end result of all that meddling was a flop at the box office.

DC fans didn’t want to take this loss and it’s a good thing. Along with members of the movie’s cast and crew, fans petitioned for the release of Snyder’s version of the film. They demanded Warner Brothers release “The Snyder Cut,” and the nickname stuck, more or less. In May 2020, Warner Brothers announced that the original movie would be released. It’s exclusively available on HBO Max!

DC Superheroes Abound!

So, what’s the first thing we can tell by the trailer? Justice League is loaded with heroes and stars. The action is led by Batman/Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck). He’s joined by Wonder Woman/Diana Prince (Gal Gadot). Also joining the team are Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), and The Flash (Ezra Miller). Even The Joker (Jared Leto) shows up. (Let’s hope it’s more than a cameo.) The film also stars Amy Adams, Willem Dafoe, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, and J. K. Simmons.

Action-Packed Superhero Movie

Even if you didn’t see the trailer, this shouldn’t come as a surprise. DC movies, especially the ones featured on HBO Max, are loaded with action. Wonder Woman 1984 would be a good example of this trend. And when it comes right down to it, it’s why superhero movies are so popular. We watch them for all that action. We’re about it. Judging by the trailer, Zack Snyder’s Justice League will deliver a boatload of fights, battles, and chase scenes.
