Don’t wait. This is the right time to buy an antenna.

TOPICS:

Who doesn’t like free TV? It’s literally your right as an American. Cable companies have been telling us for generations that you have to pay for live TV. Truth is, you don’t. In over 96% of the country, you can put up a TV antenna and get dozens of channels of free TV with nothing more to pay, ever.

Why wait?

I know a lot of people have put off getting a TV antenna. They have a bunch of different reasons why. Let’s take a look at some common objections and how they really don’t hold up.

“It’s the wrong time of year.”

It’s never the wrong time of year to get an antenna. If the temperature is too low for you to get up on the roof, don’t. Put the antenna up in the attic, at least temporarily. Or, ask our experts for a recommendation. It’s possible you don’t even need an outdoor antenna. If you do, it’s possible that you could use a smaller antenna like the Televes Dinova Boss Mix, which can sit inside until you’re ready to go outside and mount it.

“I’m not getting up on the roof”

In a lot of cases, you don’t have to. We have a lot of antennas that work indoors or out. You can mount them in the attic, put them on an eave, or even attach them to a fenceposts. Of course you’ll get the best results by putting that antenna up high, but it’s possible you’ll still get the results you want by putting the antenna down where you can mount it safely. Check out the great selection of antenna mounting supplies at Solid Signal.

“I don’t watch that much live.”

OK, I hear this a lot from younger viewers. But, chances are you do watch certain shows live, or close to live. If you’re a fan of any reality TV show you don’t want to wait to see it on Hulu. You want it live. A TV antenna will bring you all of the top rated reality shows and once you pay to put up the antenna, there’s no additional cost!

“That seems like a lot of hassle.”

If you’re not familiar with antennas, it may seem like a lot of work to choose the right one, mount it, aim it, and then scan for channels. But really these are one-time things. Sure, you might need to scan for channels a few more times during the life of the TV but that’s easy. Generally you just press MENU and find the “Off-Air Setup” option. Scan for Channels is usually just one button press after that.

“I don’t want to have to spend time aiming it.”

Older readers might remember fussing with rabbit ears to try to get the best reception and having to move the antenna with every channel change. Even if you have channels in every direction, you can get an omni antenna like this one.  It gets channels from up to 60 miles away in any direction, no aiming necessary.

“I don’t understand the accessories.”

Yes it’s true that in the past you had to put together your own bundle including an amplifier and all sorts of other stuff. Today your friends at Solid Signal can put together a custom bundle for you that includes everything you’ll need to get going.
