Why not 1080p?

A lot of people are asking…why go 1080p?  Is it worth the money?  What are the benefits?  At Solid Signal, we are asking the question…why not? If you can afford it, we believe 1080p resolution is definitely worth the investment and here are a few reasons why…

  • “P” is the future: 5 years from now, progressive will most likely be the main resolution sold.  Invest now, and you won’t be jealous in a few years when your friend’s TV is cooler than yours.
  • There really is a difference: Although not a lot of high def broadcasts are currently done in 1080p resolution, we immediately notice when a program is broadcast in 1080p.  Seeing is believing… check out this link for a visual depiction of the different technologies http://www.westinghousedigital.com/1080p_tour.html
  • Convergence between computers and TVs:  Hooking up your computer monitor to a TV with 1080p resolution (which, by the way, is pretty simple) will provide picture quality you wouldn’t believe.  Because we’re seeing more and more technology convergence, owning a TV with 1080p resolution will enhance other technology in your home as well.
  • Something to get excited about:  One Solid Signal employee’s wife viewed a slide show of family photos on a computer monitor hooked up to a TV with 1080p resolution and it was something she really got excited about. So it has benefits for geeks and non-geeks alike!
And here’s a cheat sheet on what all the numbers and letters really meani: stands for interlaced Displays every other line in one scanSources come across on the screen sequentially: the odd-numbered lines of resolution appear on your screen first, then the even-numbered lines - within 1/30 of a second.  p: stands for progressiveDisplays every line in a single scan

Faster, resulting in sharper moving images
1080: stands for the number of lines of vertical resolution.  As you might suspect, the higher the number, the better the picture quality.   Feel free to contact us http://www.solidsignal.com/contact_us.asp with any questions or comments about the value of 1080p.
