And then there were four. Rounding out the 2017 lineup for Televes antennas, we present the DATBOSS LR. This is the antenna for people who want extremely long range UHF performance but don’t need VHF (or do need VHF filtering.) It’s the way to go if you want a high level of performance but a little bit smaller size than the DATBOSS LR MIX, which adds VHF reception.
And, of course, you know we have a full review of it just waiting for you.

Hi Stuart, according to this antenna’s specs it has a passive gain of 19 dBi. I have not been able to find another UHF antenna with a higher passive gain. Do you know if this is the highest passive gain antenna commercially available?
I already purchased this antenna and plan to use it next month in Costa Rica for testing it on the 150-190 km range. My broadcast point is at 3,500 meters (Volcan Irazu).
Thanks!
I believe you are correct that there is no other UHF antenna with that passive gain. The Ellipse might but we do not carry it at Solid Signal.
I checked the specs on the Ellipse from Televes’ website and it’s definitely not a match for the LR. There is no info on the passive gain for the Ellipse; however, it shows 38 dBi with the BOSS mode on. It is 47 dBi max. for the LR. No match!!
I am going to have a lot of fun with the LR!
