AT&T to reveal fourth quarter results

TOPICS:

AT&T is expected to reveal its 4th quarter 2016 results in a conference call taking place later today. Unlike the DIRECTV days, the new corporate overlords prefer to make financial disclosures quietly, usually after the stock market closes. Given their past successes, you’d think they’d be more interested in telling the whole world, but that’s just not the sort of company they are.

All the details are in this traditionally terse press release, which actually came out at the end of last year for some reason:

AT&T (NYSE: T) announced today that the company’s fourth-quarter 2016 results will be released after the New York Stock Exchange closes on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. At 4:30 p.m. ET the same day, AT&T will host a conference call to discuss the results. The company’s earnings release, Investor Briefing and related materials will be available at AT&T Investor Relations.

For access to the call, after 4:20 p.m. ET please dial 866-232-4457 within the United States or 612-332-1213 outside the United States. Ask the conference call operator to connect you to the call hosted by AT&T Investor Relations. A live webcast of the call will also be available at AT&T Investor Relations, and the webcast replay will be available until March 31, 2017

It’s funny, because this is the one quarter where you would think AT&T would really want to advertise their success. DIRECTV NFL Sunday Ticket is a massive profit generator, and with the holiday season, it’s pretty likely that the wireless side of the business saw a big bump as well as people get new devices as gifts. If I had such a great quarter, I know I’d be talking about it.

Unlike previous years, I won’t be liveblogging the conference call, as it’s expected to be a rehash of the financials which will be released sometime today. I will be offering my analysis either today or tomorrow, depending on when the numbers become available.
