It’s called the Smith Cloud and it really does seem to be a cloud of gas expelled by our galaxy. It seems we dealt it, and sooner or later, we’ll have to smell it.
Obviously that’s a vast oversimplification, and our friends at io9 explain things in a little more detail. All I’m saying is that I don’t want to see the size of the bean burrito that caused it.
