Stream Original, Stream Netflix in March 2022!

With a total of 25 new Netflix originals coming in March, the immediate future looks good for streaming.

Yes, I’m back on a Netflix kick… at least for now. I’m sure my cranky coworker, Mr. Stuart Sweet, will take issue with that. He’s still obsessing over his CBS All Access programming. Newsflash, Stuart: Most of us can’t live on Star Trek spinoffs alone. We crave the excitement and wonder that only comes from new and compelling original programming. Am I right? (Rhetorical question. Of course I’m right!) For us, this means turning to Netflix during the month of March. The “big red one” gives us plenty to stream.

Streamers: It’s Buckler’s Big 3

That’s what everyone reading this can’t wait to see. My pic of the three most promising programs on any given streaming service. Well, far be it from me to let you down! The choice was a hard one, though. All 25 of next month’s Netflix originals seem interesting. There are English- and foreign-language programs, animated shows, and a varied assortment of movies, TV series, and documentaries among them. It was a challenge to pick just three, but I managed to surmount it for you, dear readers. Here they are in chronological order:

1. Worst Roommate Ever (March 1)

Anyone who’s ever thought that splitting the rent with a stranger was a good idea should watch this documentary mini-series. It tells the story of real people whose lives were turned upside down when they took on a roommate. I’ve had a similar experience in my youth, though not nearly as tragic as the true tales told here. Still, it was a harrowing experience, and apparently, I can’t wait to vicariously relive it. While I’m sure to be triggered, you might enjoy this show.

I have one warning about the Worst Roommate Ever trailer. It contains one curse word. Yes, it’s censored for the sake of propriety, but you’ll still know it when you hear it. If this kind of stuff offends, please take a pass on the trailer… and perhaps the series.

2. Against the Ice (March 2)

This Netflix original movie is a bit of a Game of Thrones father/son reunion. It stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Charles Nance. You might remember them from their respective roles as Jamie and Tywin Lannister. In this film, Coster-Waldau plays Ejnar Mikkelssen, a man charged with finding missing people on the island of Greenland… in the winter. If the slightly bloody (polar bear attack, etc.) Against the Ice trailer is any indication, this won’t be the safest of journeys.

3. Black Crab (March 18)

I’m a sucker for post-apocalyptic movies and foreign-language films. Black Crab is both, but these things aren’t the main draw for me. The film stars Noomi Rapace. I first became smitten with her when I saw The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo in 2009. Since then, I’ve made an honest attempt to catch all her performances. (Yes, even Lamb.) In Black Crab, Rapace plays a soldier on a desperate mission to transport a mysterious package across the frozen wastes. Check out the action-packed trailer to see if this dark thriller is calling your name.

The Master List of Netflix Originals in March

I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating. I have a unique – Stuart might say “weird” – taste in movies and shows. What can I say? I have some very definite ideas about what I want to watch. With that said, I always have another ideation that I feel I must consider. It’s the fact that while you might be my loyal and adoring readers, you might not like the same things that I do.
