Article 7,000 (again.)

This is the 7,000th article on the Solid Signal Blog. And, it’s also about the 11,000th. It’s also about the 3,500th. I know it’s confusing. But whatever the number is, it’s something to be proud of.

The long look back

The Solid Signal Blog launched in 2007 as, well, just your basic company blog. Until 2012, there were, in general, about ten posts a year. They are preserved here for posterity.  Look for the archive section at either the lower right or the bottom of the home page.

Sadly, by 2011, staff turnovers had led to this blog being largely idle. As the economy began to pick up, Solid Signal management looked for a new way to turbocharge our online marketing.

In 2012, I took over this blog and immediately started increasing the frequency and quality of content. For nine years, this blog has offered roughly 100 articles a month. That should equate to 11,000 articles. However, you won’t find all of them here.

“The Purge”

In early 2018, this blog made the move to the popular WordPress blogging platform. Unfortunately this meant a lot of very hard work in migrating content over. We had so outgrown our previous platform that it was practically impossible to automate the process. So, this meant our staff migrating over each article by hand.

It also meant taking a hard look at any article which was out of date or didn’t meet the standards we how have for journalism. In all, about 3,500 articles were moved over to the new platform. The rest only exist in database backups. I wouldn’t say you’re missing much, though.

Full steam ahead

Using the high-quality blogging tools at our disposal, our team went back to work generating about 100 pieces of content a month. We tightened our standards up even more, leading to better quality articles that will hopefully stand the test of time.

And so, we’re back to 7,000 pieces of content at this blog. There are also about 750 videos at our YouTube channel. All in all, about twelve million people have enjoyed our content, and a good percentage of them have consumed over 25% of the total content we’ve offered. That means they keep coming back, over and over.  It’s a good thing to think about.

And yeah, I know, the average teenage influencer can get those kind of numbers in a week. But for a blog that serves a fairly small niche, our numbers place us at the top of the industry.

The best is yet to come

Over the last year, this blog has evolved to become the most popular company sponsored tech blog on the web. We proudly support the products and services offered by Signal Group LLC and at SolidSignal.com. It’s been a long road so far, but look how far we’ve come! Just imagine what we will be able to accomplish in coming years. The best is still ahead of us, and I hope you’ll keep reading along!
