DIRECTV Upgrades in 3 Easy Steps

It’s easy to upgrade your DIRECTV account when you work with Signal Connect!

You love your DIRECTV and don’t see a reason to change it. We get it. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it, right? Well, there’s a downside to applying that axiom to your DIRECTV. If you’re still using outdated legacy equipment, you’re missing out on the highest quality reception. (Think 4K!) You’re also don’t have certain channels that are only available in high definition. This is why so many people are getting DIRECTV upgrades. Our Signal Connect division is a DIRECTV dealer that makes getting an upgrade fast and easy.

DIRECTV Accounts: Two Types

Before we get into upgrades, let’s talk about the two different DIRECTV account types. The first for very longtime customers. These are the folks who have been part of DIRECTV since the earliest days. We call these “legacy accounts.” The other type, called RC1 accounts, which are those that were migrated to the AT&T system. Believe it or not, even though DIRECTV has been part of the AT&T family for five years, there are still many accounts that haven’t been changed over yet. I guess when you start with 25 million customers, it takes a little time to move them all.

So, which account type do you have? Here’s an easy way to tell. Do you log into your account at ATT.com? Or DIRECTV.com? If you log into ATT.com, you have an RC1 account. If you log in at DIRECTV.com, that’s a Legacy account. Does it really matter? Certainly not, but it does make a little difference to us behind the scenes. No matter what though, Signal Connect can help you.

Step 1: Place your order for a DIRECTV upgrade.

This is the easiest part of this easy process. When you decided you want the most current version of DIRECTV, you fill out an online form and send it to Signal Connect. This is the division of our company that is a DIRECTV dealer.

Step 2: Signal Connect team contacts you.

Our team needs to verify that you need a new service, or have an existing one that needs to be upgraded. A quick phone call takes care of all that. The reps in Signal Connect’s US-based offices will ask you a few questions designed to determine what type of upgrade you need.

Step 3a: Activation for Legacy DIRECTV systems.

So, you have a Legacy system? Then you’ll need to get a new DIRECTV receiver from Signal Connect. We practically carry all of them! But, which one do you need? That’s where your Signal Connect rep comes in. He or she will work with you to make sure you get the DIRECTV receiver you need for an upgrade DIRECTV system.

Step 3b: Activation fees for newer systems.

If you have a newer system, you’ll have to pay an activation fee. The Signal Connect team processes that for you and handles your activation. In most cases, this takes them about 10 minutes or less. These are the benefits of being a DIRECTV dealer; we know who to call at AT&T to quickly get your account activated so you can start watching TV. (Note: DIRECTV typically charges you for your receivers on your next monthly bill.)
