THROWBACK THURSDAY: Making Tires?

TOPICS:

Definitely off topic,, but the other day I ran into this video, which was presumably made for some promotional purpose back in 1934. It’s not like I think you all really care about tire manufacturing, but I know that my Solid Signal Blog faithful are always interested in seeing precise machinery in action. If you look at this today, about 75 years later, this looks like pretty boring stuff, but back in the golden age of US manufacturing this was high tech. In fact, I’d lay odds that after the company switched to steel-belted radials, they probably sold the machines you see here to someone in China who’s probably still using them. It’s a little long and by today’s standards it seems like the narrator is barking orders at you, but still it’s mesmerizing to watch.
