Happy New Year From The Solid Signal Blog

It’s going to be a great one… and I know that because of the changes we’ve made your favorite consumer electronics web site. The biggest change you saw in 2020 was the new web site experience, but there’s so much more. We’ve revamped our operation from top to bottom. What does that mean? It means you’re going to find even more reasons to shop at Solid Signal and even more reasons to read this blog.

Year 15 at The Solid Signal Blog

This is the fifteenth year that The Solid Signal Blog has been publishing. During the year we hope to do a bunch of stuff to celebrate. We’re talking about more contests, more giveaways, more content, more of everything!

The Solid Signal Blog started as an experiment in 2007 to see if our team members could get more involved in social media in a controlled way. Remember this was really before Facebook and Twitter were on anyone’s radar so this was a way to introduce the team to the rest of the world. The blog and forums continued on until late 2010, when staff changes and the global recession meant that we took a little time off to focus on core issues.

We relaunched in 2012 as the ultimate source for tutorials, opinions, and support, merging together our blog and forums. Since that cold January day when we went live, this blog has been seen on over 8 million devices (it’s a little harder to say how many actual people that is), our tutorials have been downloaded over 400,000 times, and our videos have seen a combined 3.3 million views. That’s a lot to be proud of.

Where we go from here

Our blog is now the largest captive tech blog on the web. It far eclipses most of the independent blogs and forums in terms of readership and we’re looked at as an authority. Google has gifted us with “Preferred Result” status on dozens of topics and hundreds of pages. It’s driven a level of success that I could never have imagined when I took over in 2012.

And to be honest, we couldn’t have done it without you, our readers. Even though I know that about 95% of you read without commenting, I can still tell you’re there, and I wanted to personally thank you for all the support over the years.

We’re just getting started… keep reading and we’ll keep writing!

Yours,
