HBO Max Brings Latest Releases and TV Gold

From Julia Louis-Dreyfus to Godzilla, HBO Max is offering fresh takes on old favorites in late-January and early-February.

I love HBO Max and for good reason. HBO Max is owned by AT&T, and our Signal Connect division is an AT&T Preferred Dealer. (More on that later.) Every time I watch something on HBO Max, it feels like I’m cheering for the home team. Lately, there’s A LOT to cheer about. Two new movies will be available for streaming when they’re showing in theaters. Every season of a popular TV series is coming to HBO Max too. If you enjoy streaming a variety of entertaining content – and who doesn’t? – then you should love HBO Max.

1. The New Adventures of Old Christine

This raucously funny CBS sitcom became available on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. It was originally slated for a January 22 release, but what’s a mere five days between streamers? Whatever the case, HBO Max subscribers now get all five seasons (88 episodes) of this popular show starring the inimitable Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Yes, we all love her turn as Elaine from Seinfeld, but she’s equally at home in her “Old Christine” role.

I know what you might be thinking. You don’t want to take the chance on another JLD show after Veep. (Technically, TNAOOC came out before Veep.) Well, this hilarious sitcom deserves a revisit because JLD does NOT play the same vapid and narcissistic role she did on Veep. In TNAOOC, our favorite comedic actress is every bit as awkward, insecure, and bumbling as Elaine, but with some added depth. Check her out on HBO Max!

2. The Little Things

This neo-noir psychological thriller looks like a banger! It stars Denzel Washington who plays a cop hot on the trail of a serial killer. A character played by Jared Leto is his main suspect. These two powerhouse actors make this original movie worth watching. The Little Things has a limited theatrical release accompanied by a month-long simultaneous release on HBO Max. (This is beginning to be a familiar pattern that I hope continues.)

The Little Things started airing on January 29, 2021, so you can stream it now if you already haven’t. Since I’m writing this mid-week, the movie is not yet available. From what I can tell, it looks like a suspenseful cat-and-mouse game between the detective and his No. 1 suspect. See if that’s what you get from watching The Little Things trailer:

3. Godzilla Vs. Kong

I think everyone is clamoring to see this theatrical release on HBO Max. Who doesn’t want to see the biggest stars of monster movies in a head-to-head battle with each other? (As if these monsters haven’t destroyed enough cities!) This super showdown happens on March 31. The movie will have a limited theatrical release that coincides with its airing on HBO Max.

What I love most about Godzilla Vs. Kong is that it’s available on HBO Max at the same time it hits theaters. I was also a huge Godzilla movie fan in the 1970s, and I fondly remember the 1962 film, King Kong Vs. Godzilla. I’m interested to see the modern take American filmmakers have taken on that classic Japanese kaiju (monster) movie. To help build your excitement, here’s the Godzilla Vs. Kong trailer:

“How Do I Get HBO Max?”

Oops! I’m sorry. I love this streaming service so much that I sometimes forget that it’s not in every home… yet. One great way to get it is by getting an HBO subscription with your DIRECTV installation. Do that, and you can watch all these great shows and more at home, business, boat, or RV. You can even get DIRECTV in your fleet vehicles. If this sounds interesting – and it should – I recommend you call our Signal Connect division at 888-233-2793. Our DIRECTV experts will help you with everything!
