THE RUMOR MILL: You shouldn’t buy DIRECTV equipment online?

We’re here to set the record straight.

You might have heard or read on other sites that you shouldn’t buy satellite equipment online. You might have heard about people shelling out hundreds of dollars on ebay only to find out that they can’t activate a receiver that was previously used. It might have even happened to you.

Let’s be clear here: We love ebay. We’re an ebay seller too… here’s a link to our products. There’s a difference, though: We’re also DIRECTV certified dealers. Most of the people you find on ebay are regular folks who come out of their DIRECTV contracts and think they can sell their old equipment.

If you ever try to buy DIRECTV equipment on eBay you should contact DIRECTV to make sure that the equipment can be activated. You’ll need to get the receiver ID and access card number from the seller. Generally you can’t just buy a DIRECTV receiver from a private party, because they’re all leased and can’t be transferred.

On the other hand, if you buy from Solid Signal, whether it’s on ebay or at our web site, you are getting new, unopened equipment (unless otherwise specified, of course) that has never been activated. You’re also getting a professional on your side: call us to activate the receiver and we’ll take care of DIRECTV’s computer systems for you and deal with any issues large or small.

This isn’t some shady deal. DIRECTV licenses thousands of dealers to work with customers all over the country and we are 100% authorized to offer you DIRECTV receivers over the internet. We don’t void the manufacturer’s warranty like some dealers do… we offer you the exact equipment you want at a price that’s usually the same as DIRECTV’s price. Simple as that.

It’s ok to be a little worried about buying over the internet, especially when you’ve heard horror stories, but really… this time it’s ok.
