Way back when, it was easy to find tools that would hold up. There were local hardware stores with people you could actually talk to. There were national chains that offered lifetime replacement for their tools. People bought tools for a lifetime of use, and more often than not those tools even outlived them. Some of my best tools came from folks who have passed away, and I think of them whenever I use one of their tools.
