Sneak Peek at Netflix’s Outlaw King and More

Netflix’s Outlaw King is the film I’m most looking forward to streaming this month. This Netflix original movie, which is available November 9, is a historical action drama about Robert the Bruce. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because Robert the Bruce was King of Scots from 1306-1329. He successfully fought against the British in the First War of Scottish Independence. If you’re a fan of historical figures who were formidable fighters, this could be for you. I’m personally hoping that Outlaw King showcases some intense battle scenes while also remaining historically accurate.

Before we dive any deeper into this Netflix movie, check out the Outlaw King trailer:

Didn’t Robert the Bruce betray William Wallace in Braveheart?

Only in the movie Braveheart did that happen. History tells a much different story about these two important figures in Scottish independence. The truth is, Robert the Bruce sought out William Wallace to learn the art of guerrilla warfare. The skills young Robert learned from Wallace would help him champion Scotland many years later. The simple truth is, Robert the Bruce never betrayed William Wallace.

So who betrayed William Wallace, then?

According to Scottish history, a Scottish nobleman by the name of John Menteith betrayed Wallace. He did so by handing Wallace over to the armies of King Longshanks at Dumbarton Castle. In other words, the writers of Braveheart fudged history. While this made the movie more intriguing, it gives people the wrong idea about the true character of Robert the Bruce. Hopefully, Outlaw King will paint a more historically accurate picture of him while also telling an engaging story.

Streaming and Cord-Cutting: It CAN be Done!

This weekly column is dedicated to streaming, but it’s definitely cord-cutter friendly. No family wants to stream 100% of their programming, including mine. The Buckler family has a TV antenna that we integrate it with the national channels and streaming services we enjoy. How is it that we can have it all when it comes to family entertainment? The answer is simple: the Bucklers rock an AirTV Player.

One of the coolest things about the AirTV Player is that it works with a TV antenna. It takes all your favorite local TV channels and puts them on the same menu as your national channels and any streaming service you choose to pay for. It also has a DVR, and even gives you the ability to stream ALL of this program to your cellphones and devices… even those local TV channels! When we say it’s the ultimate streaming system, we mean it.

If you’re interested in this amazing new streaming device, Solid Signal is the best place to learn about it. We carry the AirTV Player and more importantly, our reps know this system inside and out. If have any questions about this system, drop us a line at [email protected]. one of our reps will get back to ASAP with more information about the AirTV Player.
