STREAMING SATURDAY: Netflix Releases Two New Originals & More

Good news for streamers, Netflix released two new originals to head up its August lineup!

If you’re looking for movies, series, and entertainment, Netflix has it. This month has plenty of entertainment to choose from, starting with a brand new original series and an original film. This is followed by a host of other choices, all available to viewers throughout the month. If you have Netflix, or are considering adding it to your home entertainment system, you’ll have plenty to enjoy with this streaming service.

Last Chance U
While there’s plenty of action on the gridiron, football’s real drama often is behind the scenes. Such is the case with Last Chance U, Netflix’s newest six-part documentary series. The show, which was inspired by a GQ article of the same name, follows the 2015 American football season for East Mississippi Community College Lions and their bid to win their third consecutive national championship. The series provides an in-depth look at the circumstances and challenges of the lives of some of the college’s players. If you like “real sports,” this is about as real as it gets.

Tallulah
Tallulah is a Netflix original film that was written and directed by Sian Heder, a writer on Netflix original series Orange is the New Black. Tallulah tells the story of Lu, a homeless woman who “rescues” a baby from a negligent mother. Lu turns to Margo, the mother of Lu’s ex-boyfriend, to help raise the child. Heder says the story is inspired by a bizarre experienced she had with a drunken mother while Heder worked as a hotel babysitter. Tallulah stars Ellen Page as Lu and Allison Janney as Margo. The cast is supported by Tammy Blanchard, Zachary Quinto and Uzo Aduba.

Movies and More…
In addition to its riveting original programming, August on Netflix is filled with plenty of exciting movies. Headlining the streaming services choices for August are three films – The Angry Birds MovieMiracles From Heaven, and Hardcore Henry. From the hottest new kids movie to heartwarming drama and gut-wrenching action, Netflix promises something for the whole family in August.
