Superior Streaming on HBO Max This Month!

Guess what, streamers? October’s original programming on HBO Max looks intriguing!

If you follow this feature, you’ll know that I get especially excited with HBO Max’s offerings. The Signal Group is an AT&T Preferred Dealer and HBO Max is owned by AT&T. Cheering the streaming service’s original programming feels like rooting for the home team. It also helps that HBO Max always has some interesting original series, documentaries, and other programming month after month.

October 2020 is looking really good for the streaming service. Yes, Cats airs on October 10, but I won’t say anything more about that bizarre musical. Stuart Sweet already said enough about Cats in his post. This week, I’m focusing on three HBO Max offerings that look entertaining. There’s a documentary, a musical performance, and a miniseries. Check it out!

The Perfect Weapon (October 16)

This timely documentary takes a hard look at how cyber-theft became cyber-attacks. Anyone who’s ever been a victim of these type of attacks will probably find the information in this show intriguing. It takes a look at cyber-attacks on the US and other nations. Take a look at The Perfect Weapon trailer to see if this is something you’d find interesting:

David Byrne’s American Utopia (October 17)

You may ask yourself, “Why is Jake Buckler discussing a musical performance in Streaming Saturday?” Because it stars David Byrne, the enigmatic frontman from the popular 1980s new wave band Talking Heads. While this is a solo project, Byrne has always remained at the forefront of socio-political commentary. Spike Lee filmed this show during its 2019 run at the Hudson Theater.

All things considered, you can expect Byrne and company to burn down the house… metaphorically speaking, of course. Check out the trailer for David Byrne’s American Utopia:

The Undoing (October 25)

You might remember that I loved HBO’s Big Little Lies. Well, The Undoing reunites the show’s writer David E. Kelley with Nicole Kidman, who starred in it. In this limited series, Kidman plays the wealthy therapist whose husband, played by Hugh Grant, is accused of murder. Something tells me that nothing about this show is going to be straightforward. Check out The Undoing trailer:

Something Else You’d Like to Stream?

I realize that not everyone shares my tastes in TV shows. The good thing about HBO Max is that it has plenty of programming to choose from. Whenever I write one of these what’s-new-on-insert-streaming-service posts, I make sure to include the entire month’s listings. I did that here and included what’s available on regular HBO just in case you haven’t gotten HBO Max yet. Those shows include (HBO) so you know which ones they are. You really should get HBO Max, though. Just look at all the great shows you could be streaming.
