NICE AND EASY: How do you know if you have a SWM system?

How can you know for sure? It’s easy. If you aren’t 100% sure you have a SWM system you could be buying the wrong replacement parts. Luckily it’s easy to find out whether or not you’re using DIRECTV’s latest technology.

Start by looking at your receivers and thinking about when you got them. Do they have an RCA, Philips or Hughes logo on them? Are they more than 7 years old? If so it’s almost a guarantee that you’re NOT using SWM technology.

If you’re using a newer HD receiver, it’s even easier to know for sure. Press the {DASH} button on the remote and you’ll see a popup like the one at the top. If it says SWiM Connected … then you are.
