Signal Boosters End the “Call That Got Away”

TOPICS:

Two weeks ago, I had no idea what a signal booster is. Now I know what they are and, more importantly, who can benefit from having one.

Let me tell you about my fishing buddy, Tony. He’s a great guy with an awesome Smartphone, but his penchant for “clean country living” is ruining his social life. He recently purchased a house on a lake. While this rustic abode offers an awesome boat launch, there’s a downside – he’s too far away from anything remotely resembling a functioning cell phone tower!

This is the “Fat Tony” character from The Simpsons. My friend looks nothing like this.

Whenever we’re on the phone, it’s always the same routine:

Tony: “So just as I was about to land the fish, it…
Phone: “Hiss!”
Me: “Hello?”
Phone: “Crackle!”
Tony: “and then it…”
Phone: “Hiss!”
Me: “Hello?”
Tony: “Can you…”
Phone: Hiss!
Me: “Can you hear me?”
Tony: “I…”
Phone: “Crackle!”
Me: “What?”
Tony: “Can you hear me?”
Me: “Now I can…”

At this point, our connection goes dead. About 15 minutes later, Tony calls me back from the gas station. (The business is closer to the nearest cell phone tower than his house is.) I finally get to hear the rest of the story, which usually has to do with a fish of monstrous proportions slipping the hook just before Tony could get it into the net.

What my friend needs is a cell phone signal booster!

These devices are pretty easy to understand, even for a non-tech guy such as myself. They work something like this:

  1. An outside antenna pulls in signal from the cell phone tower.
  2. This signal gets transmitted to a booster, which amplifies it.
  3. From there, the signal is transmitted to an inside antenna. This device re-broadcasts the signal a more powerful – i.e. boosted – format.
  4. Your cell phone, tablet or other devices picks up the signal.

You don’t have to live in a rural area to benefit from having a cell booster. About 95 percent of people need one of these devices at some point. Take people in densely-populated urban areas, for example. Thick walls, tall buildings, and metal structures are just some of the things that interfere with wireless performance. This is why businesses and offices need them, too. Cell phone boosters are affordable and come in many price ranges, and you don’t have to go up on the roof to install them.

If your home or office is a one-bar zone, then you need a signal booster. These devices improve reception and connection, which also offers these benefits:

  • Fewer dropped calls
  • Improved call quality
  • Quicker text messages
  • Quicker uploads/downloads
  • Wider coverage
  • Fewer dead zones
  • More bars
  • Increased battery life

Don’t lose your calls like my friend, Tony, loses fish. Get a signal booster for your home or business. Now that I’m part of the Solid Signal team, I’m going to tell Tony about the wonders of signal boosters. It won’t make his fishing tales any more believable, but at least I’ll be able to hear them!

If your cell phone connection is about as good as Tony’s, Solid Signal can help. The easiest way for us to recommend the device for you is if you fill out our Cellular Signal Booster Help Request form.
