TIP: Disable the Power Saver on DVRs

TOPICS:

If you have a DVR in a public place, you may turn it on in the morning and turn it off in the evening. Unfortunately, DIRECTV has recently put power saving measures in the DVR and by default, it will turn off by itself after four hours without a button press. This can be a problem for commercial accounts.

If you’re having a problem where your DVR turns off after four hours, follow these steps to turn power saving off:

  1. Press {MENU} on the remote.
  2. Arrow down to “Settings and Help” and press {SELECT}
  3. Observe that “Settings” is highlighted and press {SELECT}
  4. Arrow down to “Power Saving” and press {SELECT}
  5. Press {SELECT} to enable the dropdown and arrow to “Off” then press {SELECT} again.

This should put things back to the way they were.
