Which Solid Signal Rover Duo should you choose?

A couple of days ago, I introduced you to the Solid Signal Rover Duo RV and Rover Duo OTR. These vehicle cell booster systems let you get great service in two different vehicles. The secret is the high-powered amplifier. You get one amp that can be taken between vehicles. That way you save money and you can still get great cell service in the vehicle you’re in. It’s a perfect gift and something you’ll want for yourself, too.

Choosing the right Rover Duo

The Rover Duo comes in two versions. We call one the RV and the other one the OTR. That may take a little bit of explaining.

The RV version

The Rover Duo RV is designed to go between your car/truck/SUV and your RV. It has an outdoor antenna that’s designed to clamp to a vertical surface on your RV. A lot of folks attach theirs to the ladder, for example. It also has a regular 110 volt power adapter to plug into the RV without any special power wiring. There’s also a “lighter socket” power adapter which is designed for your personal vehicle.

The OTR version

The OTR version is designed to be used in large trucks or anything with an NMO mount. There’s a mast extension which can be used to put the antenna up higher. This sort of mount is common on larger vehicles but can also be put on any vehicle. It provides a secure connection for the antenna and an easy wiring path. It also comes with two “lighter socket” adapters, one for each vehicle.

Here’s the secret

Just because they’re called “OTR” and “RV”, you don’t have to use them in those specific vehicles. Get whichever one fits your needs. Install it any way you would like. I’ve known people to put NMO mounts on their SUVs so they can have spring mounted antennas up to. The Rover Duo OTR would be perfect for that.

The Rover base amplifier also has multiple mounting options. It can be permanently mounted into the floorboards, and it also has industrial grade “hook-and-loop” tape on the bottom which will secure it to practically any vehicle carpet. It’s up to you how you want to mount it.

I’ve even heard of people cutting the end off the power supply cable to make a permanent 12 volt connection to the car or RV. I’m not so sure I’d do it that way, but I know that it’s probably going to work if you want to.

Really, it’s up to you how you use your Rover Duo. The important thing is that you get a great cell booster at a great price.
