HANDS ON REVIEW: Cell Linq Signal Meter

Folks, I review a lot of things at Solid Signal. And I’ll be honest, I actually like most of them a lot. But every so often something comes along that I really, really like.

I’ve been using signal meters from WilsonPRO and from SureCall for years. They’re solid, they’re reliable, and they work. But when I had the opportunity to test the new Cell Linq meter, I jumped at the chance. Why? Because this takes the idea of a signal meter to a whole new level.

First of all, you get a proper hard case, unlike the cardboard boxes you get with the other meters. Yes, this meter costs more, and you can see it with details like this. You get everything you need and then some.

They take care of you. In addition to the meter, at left, you get a proper charger and every adapter you would need to connect to virtually any antenna out there.

Yes this is a meter

I get it. This doesn’t look like any cell meter you’ve seen before. That’s because unlike older technology, this one connects via Bluetooth to your phone. Then, you run an app that gives you details you never could have gotten from another meter. Take a look:

This is a list of cell sites which the meter was able to find. Try doing that with another meter.

You can also get a map view showing the cell sites around you, which makes it easy to figure out where the closest is.

You can get live readings from all the local towers at once, updated every two seconds, or you can do a whole survey at once.

The magic of RSRP

This is the only meter out there that gives you real RSRP and RSRQ readings. These are the most accurate way to see what the true customer experience will be. Other meters will only give you RSSI, which is a more raw measurement that doesn’t always represent the call quality and download experience that the customer will get.

Why choose this meter?

If you’re a professional, you need to watch my video review.

You’ll see how you can refine your results, how you can do an entire survey in under five minutes, and then export all your readings to any other device. If you’ve ever taken 4 hours just to compile the results you’ve written down in a notebook, you will be blown away by how this works. I know I was.
