Come back in time to June 21, 2012. In my mind it doesn’t seem that long ago but it was over ten years ago. It was just four months after we relaunched. Our blog took a pause in 2010, and launched bigger and badder than ever in 2012. Because of the software we used back then, we asked people to register. Today we allow anonymous and guest comments, but back then, registration was where it was at. It took four months or so to get to 500 registered users and I was kind of proud. We had a little party to celebrate our 500th user and included a contest. A lot of the content from those days wasn’t transferred over when we changed blog platforms in 2018. Luckily, I was able to resurrect this one.
Here’s what I wrote back then:
Since its relaunch in January, The Solid Signal Blog and Signal Group Forums have attracted a lot of attention! Since then, we’ve put out hundreds of useful articles, videos and comparisons, and you’ve responded! Over 2,500 unique visitors come to see us each week, and of over 450 registered users, almost half of you have stayed around to be active members!
Pretty soon, we’ll have our 500th registered user… will it be you? If you enjoy our content, why not register? You can link to your Facebook account or start a new account with us. It’s easy and free. Registering helps our site metrics and helps us become more relevant in search results, so we grow even faster. It also gives you the ability to post comments, help other users or even write your own forum posts! Every member of our staff started out as a contributor to a support forum… you could be next!
We had over 13,000 registered members when we stopped taking registrations in late 2017. Since then, over 3,000,000 unique devices have read articles at this blog. Now, I know some of you read on your phone and also on your computer. So I know that not every device counts as a unique person. Still, it’s a pretty decent number, at least I think so. This isn’t a mainstream blog or an app like TikTok. This is a bunch of folks who geek out about things like satellite television. To think that so many of you have chosen to spend a little time here… I just think that’s kind of cool.
Meantime, a quick plea: if you haven’t checked out SolidSignal.com lately, please give it a shot. Or, call us at 888-233-7563. Or, fill out the form below. Truth is, I get graded on how well I drive leads to the mothership, not just on how entertaining I am. (Good thing, considering I’m not always super entertaining.) That stuff always makes me look good to my bosses, as I’m fond of saying on The Solid Signal Podcast.
