Antop Antennas are More Than the UFO

TOPICS:

Most people who know Antop antennas are familiar with the Antop UFO. That’s not surprising considering how many awesome features this antenna has. But did you know that the UFO is just one of a handful of Antop HDTV antennas? Not many people do because the popularity of the UFO tends to overshadow the company’s other products. Well, we believe that the other Antop antennas are great in their own right and we want to tell you about them. After mentioning Antop’s other antennas, it might seem more than a little ironic that we’d like to first discuss…

…What Makes the UFO so Great

If you’re a member of our email list, you’ve probably seen this TV antenna before. Due to its popularity, it often ends up in a variety of special promotions. Who buys it? Well, just about anyone who wants to cut the cord. This low-profile VHF/UHF antenna gets TV signal from up to 60 miles away. It receives those signals in 360-degree direction (omnidirectional) so there’s no need to aim it. Best of all, it can be used indoors, outdoors, and even on top of an RV or motorhome.

The UFO is loaded with many great features and benefits that cord-cutters love. The thing is, every Antop antenna also has these features. And that, dear reader, was our point from the very beginning. So, what are these awesome signature attributes that make Antop TV antennas so great? Some of the most exciting ones include:

  • Exclusive Smartpass amplifier, that helps deliver the correct balance between short- and long-range reception.
  • Antop antennas come with a US-rated 4G LTE filters that prevent 3G and 4G cellular signals from disrupting the UHF reception.
  • Each comes with mounting hardware to make installation easy.
  • Antop antennas are shielded in plastic, UV-resistant shells that hold up to most weather conditions.

Does any of that sound familiar? It might to subscribers of this blog. Stuart Sweet has written about Antop antennas. He gave us a quick overview of this useful product line from the makers of Lava and Naxa antennas. Back then, he said that Antop’s features help improve the cord-cutting experience, and that hasn’t changed. Now that we’ve given you a glimpse of Antop as a whole, we’d like to put a sharper focus on the…

…Antop Flat Smartpass Antenna

It’s the Antop flat Smartpass amplified antenna. I’ll always think of this one fondly because it gave my first cord-cutting experience, which was scanning for channels. Back in 2017, when I was new here, Stuart Sweet gave me this Antop indoor/outdoor antenna. He also left me with this simple message: “Do a channel scan with this and write a blog about your experience.” It seemed simple enough but I’d never done anything like that before, so I was a bit nervous. I didn’t have to be.

Like I said when I wrote the original blog post, this Antop antenna was easy to assemble and connect. It also was easy to conduct the channel scan. I just placed the antenna inside the window bay of my bedroom and pointed it toward the outside world. I got 15 of the Detroit TV market’s 29 high-powered stations in crystal-clear HDTV reception. I personally believe I could’ve got more channels if I mounted the antenna on my roof, which I could have, but this was just a test.

And Then There Is…

…This flat Smartpass amplified HDTV antenna. Like the UFO, this compact UHF/VHF HDTV antenna features a built-in Smartpass amplifier. You can pretty much install it just about anywhere around your home, including the balcony of your home or apartment. You can also place it on your entertainment center and use it as an indoor antenna. This versatility makes this Antop antenna a very popular option for a wide variety of people looking to cut the cord.

Speaking of indoor antennas, Antop makes a variety of Smartpass-amplified flat TV antennas. The one you need depends on exactly what you’re looking for in an indoor TV antenna. These antennas are best suited for people who live roughly within 30 miles from the TV transmitters in their area. (At least one of Antop’s indoor antennas has a 50-mile maximum reception range. Just keep in mind that reception depends on a variety of factors that include obstructions between your home and the TV towers.
