AT&T announces ’20 Extra Innings Prices

Right on time, AT&T has posted pricing for its popular MLB Extra Innings package. Extra Innings doesn’t get the same love as the NFL Sunday Ticket package, but there’s no doubt it’s a great value.

The number you need to know

According to AT&T’s microsite for MLB Extra Innings, the package will set you back $183 this year. Yes, that does mean it costs more than last year. But, looking back at the last four years, the package actually dropped in price twice since 2016. You’ll pay about $6 more this year than last. I have to say that’s a very modest increase and I would imagine most baseball fans would be able to swing it.

Here’s what you get

There’s a lot of value in the MLB Extra Innings package. You get literally every game from literally every team (with exceptions which I’ll mention in a minute.) There are so many games it would be impossible to watch all of them during the regular season.

You get the Strike Zone channel which brings you the important plays from the important games, and you get the Game Mix channel which lets you see eight games at once. It’s pretty important when there are so many games going on at the same time.

Even more— you get a free subscription to MLB.TV which lets you stream MLB content on your devices no matter where you are. We’d all like to think we could drop what we’re doing and watch, but sometimes life gets in the way. It’s nice to have the option to take the game with you, right?

Yeah, about that “every game” bit…

Unfortunately, major league baseball still has the blackout rule. That means that a local team can choose to black out a game if the stands aren’t full. The power is all in the team owners’ hands. Baseball is one of the few sports where there is still a blackout rule, and we can’t do much about it. Some people use a VPN to change their location so they can stream. You’ll have to decide for yourself if your ethics allow that sort of thing.
